Silver was released early last year on the PC to much critical acclaim, with some people hailing it as 'Europe's answer to Final Fantasy'. Infogrames, keen to build a good following for their game plan to release it on Dreamcast soon. Silver, on the PC took the best aspects of a console RPG and made it work incredably well with a simple point and click user system. Of course, in it's Dreamcast incarnation it will use the joypad - you can directly control your characters now with the analogue stick. The action in the game is more like a Zelda game than Final Fantasy, with fights being completely controlled by you as opposed to a turn based system.

Silver takes place in the land of Jarrah. The land is ruled by a sinister man called Silver who controls the land with his iron fist. He has a pact with the almighty God, Apocalypse and in order to appease the the God he must abduct Women from the villages of Jarrah. Led by Fuge and Silver's henchmen - the game starts with Fuge kidnapping our hero David's wife, Jennifer. David, determined to rescue his wife allies with people from other villages and they set out on an epic quest to get back their women. Along your quest you'll meet up with over 50 characters, over 6 of which can join your team of three. Other key non-player characters inlcude Jag, one of Silver's lieutenants and Glass, Silver's daughter.

In Silver, there are no experience points so in order to gain strength, at certain points in the story your characters abilities will increase so that you'll always be capable of defeating enemies. Silver is shaping up nicely, with improved graphics and if the new control method works out fine then those after a dose of RPG on their Dreamcast will not be dis-pleased. Personally, I greatly enjoyed Silver on the PC last year and can't wait for the Dreamcast incarnation of one of last year's most wrongly overlooked games.
